Holiday care in Münster from 2022

Dear parents and guardians,

the city of Münster has been offering all-day holiday childcare programmes for primary school children for many years. To date, places on holiday childcare programmes could be booked by all parents. However, the demand for holiday childcare places located near to pupils’ homes has increased significantly in recent years. More and more parents are applying for childcare places for their children. This has resulted in considerable bottlenecks in the previous holiday childcare system. In view of the currently adopted legal entitlement to all-day childcare for children of primary school age in 2026, it can be assumed that these bottlenecks will become even more acute in the coming years. As a result, a reorganisation of the childcare services with an altered registration procedure will be necessary with effect from the calendar year 2022. In future, a distinction will be made between parents with and those without a contract for the open all-day school (henceforth abbreviated to OGS):

Parents with an OGS contract have a contractual right to six weeks of holiday childcare per school year. In order to guarantee parents of OGS children reliable all-day childcare at an early stage, they can book their place via the registration portal Nupian1 from 15 November to 1 December 2021. The portal contains information on which childcare hours are offered during the respective holidays for the respective school locations. OGS children will thus receive a guaranteed holiday childcare offer. The childcare takes place either in a school or through a child and youth work organisation, if possible close to home. OGS parents only pay a contribution for lunch.

Parents without an OGS contract can book places on the city-wide programmes offered by the open-access child and youth work organisations and other organisers for a fee via the online portal Nupian from 17 January 2022 onwards.

It goes without saying that this option is also available to all parents with an OGS contract, in the event that they are not satisfied with the contractually guaranteed offer or if they require additional childcare times. However, such offers are then subject to a fee.

The detailed application procedure is described in the attached information leaflet.

If you have any further questions about holiday childcare programmes, please contact the OGS coordinator at your child’s school. For technical questions, you can contact the specialist department for open all-day schools from 15 November 2021 at:
